A Piece of Bengal in Boston

I used to think Durga Puja outside Kolkata lacked soul. But this year in Boston, I wore a handwoven Swarnachari saree from Dakshin Vastram. The intricate designs, the rich weave, the drape — it wasn’t just a saree. It was heritage. It was Ma Durga herself.

As I walked into the community pandal, heads turned. People asked me where I got it. And in that moment, I felt like I had brought Bengal with me, across continents.
