From Assam to Sydney – A Neerangi Saree & My Heritage

In Sydney, cultural events keep me grounded. But nothing connected me to home like the Neerangi mercerized cotton saree from Assam that I ordered from Dakshin Vastram. The green hue, the texture, the subtle handwork—all reminded me of my Aita.

When I wore it to our Bihu celebration here, strangers became friends, asking me about the weave, the state, the culture. That saree made me a storyteller. And it made my daughter proud of where her mother came from.
